Precise in the Field
The measurement boxes of the EMOB family by
are designed for flexible use in the field. Built around state-of-the-art measuring technology, they verify the metrological accuracy of charge points and have become standard equipment for repairers and verification authorities worldwide.
Their range of use is wide, covering all kinds of man-in-the-middle setups — between charge point ↔ electric vehicle, for example, or charge point ↔ mobile battery simulator.
Designed for both AC and DC in the European and the North American connector standard, they measure currents up to 32 A (AC) and 750 A (DC).
The meter itself, the MT310s2, is removable. That makes it possible to combine a separate AC and DC box into one bundle sharing a single meter — a considerable saving.

Three-phase on Type 2, up to 32 A
The EMOB 32 is the entry point of the range: a three-phase box for charge points with a Type 2 connector. It does not measure by itself but connects the charging station to the reference meter — the readings come from a standalone meter of the s2 range, MT310s2 or MT320s2.
Use it wherever the measuring accuracy of an AC charge point has to be demonstrated. Because the meter runs on its battery, you need no mains socket on site.
The box is connected directly at the charging station and measures up to 32 A without a transformer.
The connected s2 reference meter runs on battery.
The box checks that the cables make proper contact, identifies the cable type and locks the connection electromechanically. A safety prompt precedes every run.
Control is wireless; the WinSAM software guides you through the test on a tablet.

Both charging types in one case
The EMOB 200 covers alternating and direct current in a single device: single- or three-phase up to 32 A on the AC side, up to 200 A on the DC side. It connects through a combo plug to IEC 62196 (Type 2 and CCS 2). Here too, measuring is done with an s2 reference meter.
The choice when a site has both to be tested and you would rather not carry two boxes. In the manufacturer’s wiring example it sits between the charging station and the vehicle and records energy while charging runs.
On the AC side you measure 10 mA to 32 A at up to 300 V, on the DC side up to 200 A.
The temperature of the AC and DC high-current contacts is monitored, as is overcurrent on the DC contacts. If the temperature runs too high, charging stops and is released again only once the contacts have cooled.
The s2 meter can be taken out, used on its own and moved to the other boxes of the range.
The reference meter runs on battery, so no power supply is required at the charge point.

In the DC path, up to 500 A
The EMOB 500 sits in the charging path: a CCS2 socket towards the charging station, a permanently fitted cable with a CCS2 plug towards the vehicle. That is how it records charging current up to 500 A. The reading comes from an MT310s2 that is placed in the box and taken out again for other work.
For testing DC charging stations in the field. Whether the reference meter is included depends on the order variant.
A socket to IEC 62196 on the charging-station side, a permanently fitted cable with a plug on the vehicle side.
The MT310s2 sits inside the box and can be taken out for standalone use.
The DC contacts are monitored for overcurrent and temperature: a warning above 80 °C, shutdown above 90 °C.
The MT310s2 runs on a battery pack, so no additional power supply is needed at the charge point.

The new top of the range: 750 A
The EMOB 750 is built for today’s charging currents: up to 750 A direct current at no more than 1,050 V, connected through CCS2. The accuracy figures in the data sheet apply from 100 V to 1,000 V and from 2 A to 750 A, in each case together with an s2 reference meter.
For charge points whose charging current exceeds the 500 A of the EMOB 500.
The current path is rated for 750 A and withstands 800 A for one minute.
Maximum direct voltage is 1,050 V; the overvoltage category of the current measurement is CAT I 1000 V.
At 700 A the device heats by roughly 8 K per minute and cools again at roughly 1.5 K per minute.
It warns at 80 °C and shuts down at 90 °C.
